My deepest sympathy to Anne, Christine, Peter, David, Andrew and your families. I am so sorry for your loss.
I am grateful for all that Alan gave to this world, and to have had the honour to share some of the journey with him. Mum and Anne have shared a special bond for around 85 years, and in turn I have had the good fortune to share experiences with Anne, Alan and the family over my 62 years. Alan was always curious, supportive, encouraging, passionate about learning and education and the children/ families he worked with, and fun. I loved catching up with him.
I am grateful to have been able to view his service, thanks. I loved the service, the tributes, the readings etc, seeing some members of the family, learning more about Alan and his amazing, giving life, and of course the glorious opera to conclude (it made me laugh, gave me joy, helped my sorrow and lifted my heart). With gratitude for Alan, and his special soul. In celebration of a glorious life lived. With all my love.

Wonderful and supportive with family and friends. As a speech pathologist he has left an enormous legacy particularly with his work and advocacy within the department of education.

We are not able to Attend the Funeral as my wife Joan is in “AGED CARE” & the Location is “Beyond My Driving Range”.
We have made “Arrangements” for Joan & I to “View The Webcast” in the “Facility”
We would like “The Family” to know of “Our Tribute” to Alan – A “Family Association” that goes back 84 Years
to Anne & Joan “Starting School at Morongo” 84 Years Ago.

Cheers
Geoff SWAIN

To Anne and Family,

Bev (nee Parker) and I send our deepest condolences to your family on the death of Alan.
Somehow I thought that Alan was invincible and would live forever.

Alan had a hand in my early years, first as a Sunday school teacher at Christ Church and later as the leader of the CEBS. I was in St Aidan's Group and the other was At Alban's meeting underneath the church hall. Camps at Modewarre at the Smith's farm were great adventures that Alan ran.

I too, was a Junior Legatee with Geelong Legacy, and understand the difficulties that Alan and his mother faced in his formative years, and I am aware of the assistance that Legacy provided to them.
My mother (Grace) and Alan's mother were both involved with the Widow's Guild at Geelong Legacy.
At thirteen when my father died, Geelong Legacy stepped in to assist with my education and welfare. I recall going to Legacy camps at Ocean Grove where Alan was the Camp Leader. Great fun!
My mother was involved with the widow's groups at Geelong Legacy for 47 years so it became somewhat natural that I would become more involved. I was invited to become a Legatee on my retirement and have been for 25 years including a term as President.

Alan has lived a full and varied life from which you all can draw wonderful times to recall.
May I wish the extended Howarth family strength at this sad time.
