Mr and Mrs McGregor aka Jackie and John B were such a special part of my childhood and all through to my adult years. I have so many fond memories of camping trips together, visits in their gardens and special Christmas lunches together. Thank you for always being the best 'fill in' granny, attending debs, graduations, birthday parties and welcoming my own family. Sleep well. Phoebe, Harp, Ruby and Archie xxxx

Condolences to the Birrell family on the passing of ‘Jackie’. Fond memories of growing up in Blackburn with Simon and trips to and from Carey with either John or Jackie. And a special memory of camping with them at Walkerville one summer.

Jackie and John were a part of my parents Bill and Peg Harper’s lives from school days. I grew up with photos of them on the beach as teenagers and the many more times together that followed. Jackie and John and Dad and Mum always caught up when the Harpers were back in Australia. The tales of those early days were legendary. What fun they had.
Jackie was such a good friend in keeping up with our family particularly when Dad returned to live his final years near us in Daylesford. She phoned to chat with him often and indeed visited him in his aged-care home - when both were in their early 90s. This gave Dad so much pleasure. She was a wonderfully thoughtful lifelong friend to the end.
We will never forget her.
