I got to meet Rhoda when she used to walk around the block for her walking exercises and we chatted for many years. She scootered here and there with her walker attached and she got to go some distances too. Never did I hear Rhoda go "Woo be me". She was a postive role model living with her disability and stayed independent long after the expectancy that was know. I admired Rhoda for her sense of humour and her care and compassion for everyone. Her disability took its toll on her poor body sadly. Rest in peace Rhoda. Fly with the Angels as you are one yourself.
You will be dearly missed by many.

My sincere condolences to you all, Jennifer, Stephen and Mary. I got to know Rhoda through Kste Shram (nee McGregor). Rhoda would volunteer each week at Roslyn Primary School in the Library assisting with borrowing, returning and general chit chat with the students, instilling in them a love of books. We became close friends for many years after that time, sharing laughs and stories together. Rhoda always showed an interest in my family and how each of my children were growing up and becoming young men. Her attitude to life was amazing- how often she would comment 'there are people worse off than me'. Even after she left her home in Belmont and moved to The Homestead, I still enjoyed our visits and emails especially over the last few years when personal visits were tricky. I am sad not to be there to wish her a final farewell as I am overseas at the moment. My thoughts are with you and your families at this sad time.
