Dear Jenny and family We were very sad to hear of Ron’s passing. David and Ron spent many years as workmates educating many cohorts of teachers in the finer points of maths teaching. David talks with such fondness of these years and the bond between them. I joined the department at a later day but very quickly came to appreciate Ron’s wit and care he showed to all. I remember him using SIN to remember my daughters’ names and age orders. We all loved Ron’s number games when there was a celebration of any sort in the department - I think many of us adopted this practice. Jenny the service to celebrate Ron’s life was amazing. I attended online and so enjoyed the tributes from you, the family and friends. Ron would be so proud. So wonderful for you all to have shared your lives with Ron and then to have shared that with us. Condolences to all Gail & David

Very sad to hear of the death of Ron. I loved working with him. He always had a cheerful, friendly and positive manner with his colleagues and students. He worked hard and effectively to help his students acquire the mathematical knowledge and skills they needed to be good teachers of mathematics. I loved his fun plays with numbers when there was a special occasion for a fellow staff member. He loved his footy and the Magpies. I remember the hilariously funny and cheerful conversations we used to have in the old lounge over lunch in the ERC building about the vocabulary and phrases of footy. He did do a stint of "around the ground" radio broadcasting, as I remember. Good bye my old friend, you will always be fondly remembered and loved by me, Gary
