Tomorrow marks 12 months since we gathered to send you on your final journey. Not a day goes by that I don’t feel the space you’ve left behind — in the laughter that feels quieter, in the moments I wish I could share with you, and in the memories that play like gentle echoes in my heart. Almost daily I will pick up my phone to call you about something, only to go through the heartbreak all over again. You were more than family. You were my safe place, my partner in mischief, my sounding board, and my biggest cheerleader. To have had you in my life was a gift I’ll carry forever. To lose you was to lose a piece of myself. Though the pain hasn’t faded, I choose to honor your light. I see you in the sunrise, in the songs we loved, and in the small sparks of joy that remind me you’re never truly gone. Your love is stitched into who I am. Narelle, I miss you more than words can capture.
