My sincere condolences to the extended McDonald family on the passing of your beloved Sr Marion. Sr Marion was my primary school teacher at St Johns Dennington from 1963-66 and I am forever grateful for the high level of education we received from a very young Sr Marion. It was wonderful to visit her in recent years to personally thank her for that education and to hear about her full and active life in the intervening years. Vale Sr Marion. Diane Carmody

Sister Marion was so welcoming to all. I remember her always enjoying a chat in the high school yard. She was a great leader showing grace and working with others for the best student outcomes.
You will be greatly missed.

Sending my deepest sympathies to all family members of Sr Marion.
Sr Marion was our much respected Grade 6 teacher and Principal at St Margaret’s, East Geelong in 1968.
Like my classmates, we reconnected when she attended our school reunions in 1988 and 2018. It was our good fortune to have been taught by her and our absolute pleasure to have her attend our reunions. She will be sadly missed by those who knew her and loved her.

I've known Marion for the better part of 50 years. Her ministry was always creative with a natural curiosity wanting to expand the web of who was included in the net of God's love. This was paramount. Within the true tradition of Catherine McAuley, she knew what it was to embrace those who are on the ‘edge’; those who knew some form of being discriminated against. She did this in her ministry within a church that she loved but was also well aware of its limitations. I last saw her two and half weeks ago. We spoke about not getting trapped in the past; about how everything in life can begin again at any time and in every way - if only we allow it. Over and over again we are being led to new pastures, new people, new promises, new ways of being alive to the place of the Holy One in the mundane. Marion knew that her time was short, and her life was no different. We spoke about the journey of the twists and turns between what we were before and what we're becoming now. And even though she was calm and accepting, there was still a sense that she was on the cusp of being called to a new beginning where the Lord of life and love truly dwells in the heart, taking away all our fears and all our loneliness.
Marion's legacy is marked in the thousands of lives she has touched in ways that even she could never understand -in people of all ages. For 70 years giving herself in the hope that others might have a chance to flourish. Those early pioneer families that surrounded Yeo Dene alongside her McDonald family would be truly proud of her. Now as her ancestors call her home, I know that she will find peace, she will find joy and she will find a new beginning in ways that even she could not have mentioned.

So Sad to hear of Sister Marion's Passing. She was such a big part of many children at St Margaret's East Geelong in the 1960's,including myself. It was wonderful that she could manage to come to both our school reunions in 1988 and 2018. She shared so many insights about her life during those years as Sr Mary Briga. A wonderful, selfless effort Sister. May you rest in Peace in God's Hands...........Frank Harvey (on behalf of St Margaret's 1968 Reunion Group)
