Deepest condolences to Brian and family. What a wonderful contributor to netball she was. I’m thankful for all of her coaching and words of wisdom from a junior to a senior state leaguer. I have such wonderful, treasured memories growing up with Joy (and Brian) in my netball life.
Rest peacefully,
Chewy/Barnesy

Deepest sympathy to Brian , Paul , Jill and your families on the passing of Joy.
Special memories of Joy as my netball coach for many years when I was younger. Always encouraging, fair and honest. She taught me so much about the game, developing my skills and made it enjoyable to play and love as a sport . Her contribution to netball in Geelong has been outstanding . I will miss your Christmas card this year .

Leonie and I have great memories of Joy and our time involved with netball especially the Drysdale Netball Club where you were Leonie's coach. Great friendships are made through involvement in sport and you Joy were one of the best. xx

Mrs Grubb
I may not have been sporty person but you were one of my teachers that I absolutely loved and have fondly remembered from Gould College.

Heartfelt condolences to Brian and your family.

The Grubbs were our neighbours for a long time and you couldn't live next to nicer people.

We were so saddened to hear of Joys passing. We know she is a much loved family member and revered in the Netball community.

When we first moved in next door, it was so nice exchanging names of players I knew, mainly my highschool PE teachers, that she had coached.

May you rest in peace Joy.

Joy encouraged me to be the best version of myself on and off the court. She was the first person to show me the importance of considered evaluation, learning from your game and targeting improvement. This helped me in sport and life. She was one of my first referees and encouraged me to travel from a regional country town to play netball in Melbourne.

She was my coach in a successful Victorian Country Cup Team, regional championships, coach at Drysdale A Grade and Altona. She loved building and developing players and coaches and she will be sadly missed by many. I last caught up with her at the Waurn Ponds shopping centre where I heard a familiar voice and received the biggest hug. She met my two boys and gave the same loving energy to them as well. I’ll forever be grateful to Joy for believing in me that impacted my sport but ultimately gave me confidence to leave a small country town and follow my ambition to become the best engineer that I could be. Congratulations Joy on the impact you have made on so many in the community.

Much love and condolences to Brian, Paul, Jill and families. Our thoughts are with you.

Joy was my amazing netball coach for many years. She took me from B grade at Drysdale to captain of Championship State League team.
I am forever grateful for the many life lessons she taught me through netball that have made me the person I am today.

You bought out the very best in every young girl you coached and in particular, one very special girl, your incredibly talented, determined & beautiful daughter & my dear friend Jill. She inherited your strong spirit and self determination.
Thoughts go out to Brian, Paul, Jill & families 💐

Love you, Joy. They don't make them like you anymore. Tough, fair and honest! But more importantly, it was the value you placed on relationships with your players and their families.
All my prayers and thoughts are with you Brian, Jill and families

Heartbroken to hear the news of your passing Joy. You were an amazing person who gave so much time to the sport you loved and for that we are all so grateful. Netball in Geelong would not be where it is without all of your contributions to the sport and pathways you created.
Your knowledge, guidance and support was second to none, you provided so many opportunities for me in my early years of netball and introduced me to so many amazing people and gave me the chance to play with so many amazing players.
I will be forever grateful for the recent years where we got to spend hours together travelling and watching our beloved Melbourne Vixens play where we would reminisce and laugh about the good old days. I am grateful for spending time with you and Brian and for you gifting and entrusting me with your netball memorabilia.
You are an absolute legend Joy and it has been a privilege to have known you and have you as my coach, mentor and my friend. You have left your mark on the lives of so many and will always be admired, respected and remembered forever.
Much love and condolences to Brian, Paul and Jill and families❤️❤️
