Aurel you were always such a good friend. Week after week we would sit in your little office out back and chat about anything and everything. You would show me around your garden and we would talk about all the vegetables you’ve grown and you would give me pointers on what to do. For years you would come and visit us at Xmas and play Santa to our little girls, they loved it.
Rest peacefully and have a beer or 2 with James in heaven.
Big hugs to Pete & Gina and family.

As a child growing up at Mt Buller, I will always remember Aurel from my childhood. He had a wonderful kind, gentle presence, and now as an adult reflecting back I remember a man lived by his principles and embraced others and life fully. Along with Georgina who I remember smiling, with infectious laughter their home was always welcoming and loving. I wish Peter and Gina all the best at this sad time.
Thinking of you and all your famiily at this time. Emma

Only days before his passing, I had the pleasure of spending time with Aurel, hearing Mt Buller stories of the 1960s and 70s when Aurel first encountered my parents. It was only supposed to be half an hour but that quickly turned into 2 hours. He was so proud of his entire family and everything they have achieved. Sincere condolences to the entire Forass family. Vale Aurel.

From the day we moved in next door at York street, you treated us like family, and you became part of ours. We loved our time, the kids always eager to be shown another knick-knack or treasure along with the story that brought them to life. Pipping cherries in your kitchen, tech support with a home-brew, smelling paprika cooking from over the fence and the heartfelt chats of support and reassurance we often had in your garden.

Your independence and optimism were inspiring. We missed you when we moved, but we chatted often and you remained a part of our family.

We love you.

In loving memory of you Pops, this is how I knew you …… from Charlotte.
The words of Albert Einstein come to mind when I think of Pops. “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
The comfort of having had a friend who made me feel a real part of the family on “Grandparent & Special Friends” day for Nisa may be taken away, but not that of having had that friend at such special moments.
Pop’s song has ended through amazing grace but the melody will live on forever.
Farewell Pops, until we meet again.
To Pete, Gina and all the family,
We are sharing your sadness as you remember Aurel, the patriarch of your family. May his loving memory live on in each of your hearts for comfort, encouragement, joy and strength, smiling because he made it happen.
From Charlotte & Derryck Jooste.

It is often hard to find the right words at a time like this. May you find peace, comfort, and all the love you need in the days to come.

Aurel you were my favourite Uncle and I treasure the years you were here and giving your words of wisdom, jokes and love to your family and loved ones.
I hope you are now in the arms of your family that have passed before.
I will make sure St Kilda wins a premiership in your honour.

Another pioneer of the Victorian Alps, now gone and within his Georgie though not forgotten. A man of the mountains who led by example, a true gentleman of the snows who will be sorely missed.

To Pete, Gina and all the extended family, our heartfelt condolences. May his memory be for a blessing.
